The Standard

Not too much. Not too little. Just right.

The name Goldilox wasn't random. I've lived at both extremes. This is what I learned, what I believe, and the standard every man I coach is held to. Alex Demirel, founder and head coach.

Why Goldilox exists

I got fired because I wanted abs.

Age 15

The gym made me different.

I got bullied. Struggled at school. Always felt like the odd one out.

So I got stronger. I was failing, so I found something I could succeed at. The gym changed everything. Then it became everything: six days a week, a cover-model body, and no life outside it.

Too much
Too little
Both extremes

Too much. Then too little.

I've lived at both ends. Low-calorie diets. Long, brutal training sessions. Keto, fasting, carnivore. Then the months where I let it all go.

I'd been totally jacked, and it was all I did. I'd been too lean, and my health paid for it. I believed fitness had to be my entire life to be worth it. It left me with a completely broken relationship with food, the gym, and myself.

2018

It cost me my job.

A marketing job in London. Bad sleep, keto brain fog, and my head always somewhere else. I jumped before I was pushed.

Fitness had become my life instead of making my life better. Years wasted, simply because I didn't have the right approach for me.

Now

The middle.

After 16 years I found a physique that's not too big, not too lean. One that complements my life rather than becoming it. I box. I have time for my hobbies, my business, and my wife.

The right approach isn't hardcore. It isn't all-or-nothing. It definitely isn't suffering for the sake of it. It's built on data, balance and precision, tailored to your body and your reality. That's what the name means. That's why Goldilox exists.

Not perfect. Not extreme. Just right, for you.

The Goldilox zone
The zone

Five things. All just right.

When every one of these fits your life without taking it over, you look, feel and operate to your potential.

01

Training

Strength training, done with intensity. Some zone 2 cardio. Three to four sessions, not six.

02

Nutrition

Mostly whole food, built around your biomarkers and the meals you actually enjoy. Nothing banned.

03

Recovery

Sleep you can measure, and protect. Recovery is where the work turns into results.

04

Lifestyle

Travel, client dinners, kids, weekends. Planned for in advance, not treated as failure.

05

Habits

A simple plan you can just show up and tick off. Structure removes decisions.

What we believe

They say. We say.

  • More is better. Six days, Hyrox, 75 Hard.

    Less, done better.

If your system is training five times a week and you can't stick to it, it's not the right system. Fewer sessions, done with real intensity, beat more sessions done tired.

  • It's discipline and willpower.

It’s a plan problem. Willpower runs out.

Most men I coach are already disciplined. They run businesses and families. What they don't have is a plan built for their life. Give them one, and the willpower takes care of itself.

  • You need to lock in.

    You need an identity shift.

Nobody changes when things are just “meh”. Change happens when the standard you hold for yourself no longer matches the man in the mirror. We close that gap, then make it who you are.

  • Go carnivore. Cut out food groups.

    Elimination diets never end well.

Animal-based, keto, vegan, carnivore. Any diet that cuts out entire food groups is unnecessary. You'll follow it until a social event, and then you're back where you started.

  • It's your age, your metabolism, your testosterone.

    It’s your approach.

Nigel got into the best shape of his life at 49. Andrew did it at 54. Age is not the reason. The approach is.

  • Bulk, then cut.

Lean first, then build. Stay lean, stay ready.

Get lean. Reverse out properly so the weight stays off. Then build muscle with minimal fat. You stay in shape the whole way, not just for six weeks a year.

Your side of it

The standard you're held to.

I bring the plan, the data and the support. This is what I ask of every man in return.

01

Show up.

Do the work in the plan. Not more, not less. Tick the box.

02

Tell the truth.

Communicate when life gets in the way. I can only adjust what I can see.

03

Trust the process.

Results compound. The men who get them are the ones who stay.

04

Hold the line.

None of it is forever. It’s the standard you hold for a focused window, so you actually get somewhere.

If this is you

Not for everyone. Built for a few.

I coach every man myself, so places are limited. If you're ready to be held to a standard, apply.
